Leigh Martin BSc, BAA, Lic Ac
Leigh trained at the International College of Oriental Medicine, is a fully qualified Acupuncturist and holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Acupuncture.
Leigh is registered with the British Acupuncture Association (BAA) and adheres to their strict code of professional conduct and is fully insured and licensed.
Before and during the time of completing my acupuncture training, I regularly received acupuncture treatments. Initially this was for chronic pain in my shoulder and also to support my “real life, what it feels like” learning experience. Over time acupuncture treatments became so much more than pain relief and have proven to be a truly and profound experience, both physically and mentally. My personal experiences as a patient and then later as a practitioner, have given me a great insight into the ways in which both the physical and the mental parts are intertwined, both of which can be gently returned to balance through the medium of acupuncture.
Acupuncture is one aspect of Chinese Medicine, along with Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tuina (Chinese massage) and Qi Gong practice. It has been successfully used for thousands of years to treat a number of conditions.
Some of these include:
- Lower back pain/Sciatica/Muscular Skeletal pain
- Digestive problems
- Menstrual/Menopausal symptoms, troubles with fertility
and much, much more.
I am interested in treating all kinds of physical conditions, as well as supporting the entire person.
I provide a safe and secure space, within which my holistic and person centred treatments can be as effective as possible.
I have completed post graduate training in facial acupuncture, ear acupuncture, tuina (Chinese massage) and cupping therapy.
I volunteered in the past at Macmillan’s Horizon centre and have completed post graduate training around treating people affected by cancer.
What to expect during a treatment
I will ask a number of questions which relate to your presenting symptoms, and about your health in general. I will then do some body diagnosis (looking at your tongue and taking a pulse reading) to help me to formulate the best plan of treatment.
I may apply other methods such as cupping, moxa or Tuina during the treatment.
I also offer facial acupuncture.
Patient wellbeing and safety is at the heart of my practice.

An initial consultation and standard acupuncture treatment is advised before a facial treatment.

“My experience of ear acupuncture was powerful and captivating, and I attained useful information about my energy channels and how they affect my senses.
The session felt safe and held, and all necessary safety procedures were followed to the letter.
I was encouraged to be expressive and communicate my experience to the group, and I also felt comfortable being quiet and reflective. I would highly recommend ear acupuncture to anybody interested in energy work, or those looking for any type of transformative experience.” — Nick, 2016
