“I began my fertility journey in the spring and after a few months of trying, I was recommended to see Deborah by a close friend who was herself an acupuncturist.
I am certain that it was Deborah’s knowledge, insight and expertise which supported me with the conception of our first child. I felt that the treatment aided my body’s natural physiology and created a pathway for this baby to choose me as its mother.
Deborah works in a deeply intuitive way and her practice is grounded in a deep understanding of the history and theory of acupuncture which she was keen to share.
I have not hesitated in recommending Deborah to close friends and family and I will always be deeply grateful for her support and work we did together.” — Kirsty, midwife
“I am a 64 year-old woman who developed a stress-related condition called Cervical Dystonia (shaking of head, neck and upper back). My condition initially improved with daily meditation, weekly shiatsu and reflexology sessions. I also took a short course of Temazepam tablets at night to control the shaking, which would wake me up when I turned over in bed or came up into a light sleep. After finishing the tablets, the shaking gradually became worse at night over a period of two months. When I returned to the doctor he suggested visiting a neurologist. The standard treatment for this condition is botox injections in the neck, which I didn’t want to have.
In summer 2012 I visited my daughter in the UK (I live in Australia) and she suggested I have a course of treatment with her acupuncturist, Deborah Woolf. By this time I had been experiencing the shaking for six months and I was taking a second course of Temazepam at night to help me sleep. The shaking was noticeable in the daytime and more severe at night and disturbed my sleep.
As I was only in the UK for a short time, I had five treatments over a period of a month. After the first session of acupuncture my level of shaking went down from 10/10 to 7/10. After the second one it lowered to 5/10. This meant that I wasn’t so aware of my head and neck moving and my family said they couldn’t see my head shaking at all during the day. However, I still felt it at night. By the third session I felt very much stronger in my body. The only time I experienced slight tremors was when I rushed around too much. At night, the awful shaking sensation had gone and my sleep was much less disturbed. I was even able to stop taking the Temazepam. My fourth and fifth acupuncture sessions reinforced all of these positive effects.
I don’t experience any shaking in the daytime now, and there has been a dramatic improvement at night, with the level of movement down to 2/10. I will continue to work on my recovery with meditation and further acupuncture in Australia. I am eternally grateful to Deborah for her skill and expertise in acupuncture, which has helped me to recover from this disturbing condition in a very short time.” — Linda
“I always look forward to my sessions with Deborah. Both before and during my pregnancy seeing Deborah was the one chance I had to be really listened to. I found her treatment truly holistic as she took so many aspects of my current health into account. The treatment was always relaxing and left me feeling energised and positive, even in the final stages of pregnancy. Thanks to Deborah, my daughter was born at the end of a healthy pregnancy following an uncomplicated four hour labour.” — Jo
“I was ‘referred’ to Deborah by my regular acupuncturist, who was too nervous to perform an acupuncture induction for my pregnancy (2nd), due to my underlying blood condition & other complications. I had an acupuncture induction with my 1st pregnancy, and whilst it was effective, I think Deborah’s was far superior. In fact my baby was born, 2 hours before my appointment for the hospital induction!
My 1st appointment with Deborah was on the Friday. I had a show on the Sunday & my 2nd induction had been booked with Deborah on Monday morning. I’d already been in labour for 5 hours, when I arrived at Deborah’s on the Monday. She also offered to attend the hospital at my request at anytime and made herself available to me over the phone for advice, throughout my labour.
Deborah is the 3rd acupuncturist I have used in 6 years, and even including the posh Bond Street clinic that I attended, I would totally rate Deborah and found her ‘old school’ techniques superior. She also completely put me at ease and was highly knowledgeable. I would thoroughly recommend her – but be warned, if an induction is your first ever visit to the world of acupuncture, it is an uncomfortable procedure and unrepresentative of ‘normal’ acupuncture procedures. Although, I am in no doubt that Deborah’s inductions brought on my labour, which is exactly what I had requested.” — Alison
“I have been receiving acupuncture from Deborah for over five years. Throughout that time she has always demonstrated an extremely warm and personal approach to providing treatment. Each session begins with a history and Deborah asks pertinent questions which often enable me to remember things about my health in the period since the previous treatment, which otherwise I may have forgotten.
She always takes my pulses and sometimes consults her books before making a final decision about which points to work on. At times she has treated specific issues and I usually notice an improvement in symptoms afterwards. Whatever the focus of the treatment, it is invariably a relaxing experience which enhances my sense of wellbeing. Deborah is willing to explain why she is placing needles in particular points and has always been patient and clear in her explanations to me of why she is doing what she is doing. She is also comprehensive in her answers to my questions about acupuncture as an approach to health and wellbeing. Deborah always operates with the utmost professionalism.”
“Just wanted to say thank you! I slept really well after the treatment and for the first time in the last month am COMPLETELY pain free!” — Anna
“Deborah is a warm, sympathetic and humorous practitioner and it is always a pleasure to go for an acupuncture treatment. The rooms in which she practices are well cared for and welcoming; this adds to the sense of a visit to Deborah being a treat to myself.” — Helen D
“The only way I can describe my acupuncture treatment is life changing. I went because I was very low, exhausted and angry and something had to change. After my very first treatment I honestly became a different person – the person I was before life got on top of me. I would strongly advise acupuncture to anyone in a similar position. Now I know more about it seems like the obvious solution.” — Rebecca K
“I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for getting me through the last few months of Uni. My energies finally moving was eye-opening! The horizon is wide and full of people and trees and sun and air, and it feels great! Thanks again.” — Joe
“I just wanted to thank you properly for everything you have done for me over the past 2 years. You have gone beyond the call of duty, and I have really appreciated everything so very much, and have become so much better. Thank you!” — Jo O
“I hope you remember me, it has taken a long time (18 months) for me to get round to writing to you after our last acupuncture session. The therapy has definitely worked and my back has been fine, even after I worked for 7 weeks on a building site (at 46!)” — Dave
